Hello! I’m Jennifer, and I’m so glad you’re here! This Rescued Life is a blog dedicated to all the hard-working animal rescue volunteers who work tirelessly to make the world a better place for our four-legged friends. Here, you’ll find a variety of posts, including heartwarming stories about animal rescue, information on animal rescue organizations, tips on caring for rescue pets, product and business reviews, and my own daily musings about being a rescue-dog mom and community cat caretaker.
What We Stand For:
- We advocate for the spaying and neutering of all pets, hard stop. Obviously, this doesn’t apply to responsible breeders, but for the overwhelming majority of pet owners, spaying and neutering your pet is a necessity and the only way to prevent the overpopulation of unwanted animals.
- We educate the public on the benefit of Trap-Neuter-Return programs for feral cat colonies. Unlike dogs, cats can and do live outdoors in the wild, either alone or in colonies. Cats are natural predators and can find food on their own. Most of these cats are feral and unsocialized to humans. In order to prevent unwanted litters, we can safely trap these cats, have them spayed or neutered, and return them to their outdoor colonies. This improves the lives of the cats and helps reduce the unwanted cat population.
- We encourage adopting your next pet rather than purchasing. There’s never a reason to purchase a pet when you can find all types of breeds, ages, and temperaments in your local animal shelter. And purchasing simply aides and encourages puppy mills.
- We support animal rescue organizations, both financially and with our time. Need volunteer hours? Your local animal shelter is a great place to start. Want to make a financial donation that directly impacts your local community? Your local humane society is the perfect place to make your donation.
Now, a little about me….
I live in central Arkansas with my husband, daughter, three rescue pups, and a whole host of community cats who wander by, some frequently and some not-so-frequently, for a tasty meal or a warm place to sleep.
I’m a lawyer by trade, but I’d always rather be outdoors than behind a desk. It’s probably no surprise that I’m more of an “animal person” than a “people person”. And most importantly, I’m a Christ-follower, and I do what I do because I believe that it’s our job to love, respect, and care for all of God’s creatures, just as he loves us!
